Pictures in Imaging Prayer
I help women entrepreneurs hear the Holy Spirit in images and narratives. (Always subject to the Bible.) Sometimes their experiences speak directly to their businesses. With one woman, I saw the image for her. (This happens sometimes.) I described it: a mountaintop covered in wildflowers. She told me, “Just a second!” and ran off. What’s Imaging Prayer?
I teach imaging prayer in spiritual direction. But what is it? Imaging prayer is one of the two types of an old (as of the 4th century) Christian prayer called “The prayer of silence.” One type is contemplating the presence of the Lord without words or mental pictures. Imaging prayer is the 2nd type, where you allow the Holy Spirit to use your imagination to speak with you. You do NOT drive this prayer; you put it in the Holy Spirit’s hands. Sneaky Spiritual Strongholds
When I researched the wording for “The Jericho Breakthrough” process, I interviewed several Christian women about what they thought when they heard the phrase “spiritual strongholds.” Most of them were familiar with the phrase, but not everyone was. I explained my understanding of its Biblical meaning: an area of vulnerability and/or sin that has become so enmeshed in the mind that it interferes with your emotional, spiritual, even physical health.
