    Major Feasts and Christian Parallels

    The Jews celebrated 8-9 major feasts that are mentioned in the Bible. (“8” or “9” depends on if you put Passover together with the Feast of Unleavened Bread.) They still do today with the addition of a few more minor feasts. The modern nation of Israel has added several national days of remembrance too. However, most of the major feasts come out of theĀ  Old Testament.     Shiloh

    A warning to look to God and the peace of God: “‘God said, “Because these people have rejected the quiet waters of Shiloh Brook and tremble before King Rezin and King Pekah, I, the Lord, will bring the emperor of Assyria and all his forces to attack Judah. They will advance like the flood waters of the Euphrates River, overflowing all its banks.'” (Is. 8:6-7) I love that — “the quiet waters of Shiloh Brook.” It’s contrasting with “the flood waters of the Euphrates River, overflowing all its banks.” If the people had trusted and taken in delight in the life-giving waters of Shiloh, they would not be drowning in…
