Heavenly Treasures Aren’t Platitudes. They’re Promises.
Don’t wait for all the treasures you’re storing in heaven. You’re living in the Kingdom of God here and now, and life with Him is full of treasures.
Jesus tells us to store up treasures in heaven. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt. 6:20–21) And you believe that. Joyful eternal life is one giant treasure. But do you have to wait? Can heavenly treasure help you right now? Absolutely. Because you already live in the Kingdom of God, and everything that you do to become more Christlike stores more treasures–and that treasure chest is open here and now.
Because when you become more like Christ, you’re storing up treasures of love, obedience, wisdom, humility, courage, and so much more. You’re storing them both for eternity and for right now: real life reflecting back and growing in the eternal Kingdom of God.
Let’s look at three of them: healed relationships, hearing God, and breaking strongholds.
Treasure: Healed relationships.
As you open yourself to God’s love, you fall more deeply in love with the One who loves you first. And loving the Source of love reshapes how you love others. God is forming something eternal in you—because “the greatest of these is love.” (1 Cor. 13:13)
Treasure: Hearing God.
You begin to recognize His voice more clearly. And when you listen, you’ll get the answers you need exactly when you need them—AND you’ll receive the power to act! Even when He seems silent, He’s growing trust and wisdom in you. Even in the waiting, the heart becomes steadier, calmer, and more anchored in God. And then He speaks. And everything changes.
Treasure: Breaking strongholds.
The Holy Spirit breaks those old spiritual strongholds; the lies you believed about yourself for years. Healing comes with your response: shedding the old lies, coming out of hiding, forgiving others and yourself. While God doesn’t promise perfect health in this life, He does promise strength in weakness—and courage, grace, and purpose that rise above suffering.
These treasures aren’t platitudes. They’re promises. Open yourself up in love and obedience to God, and invite those heavenly treasures to flow in your life right now.
