The Retreat Center is a prophecy, a vision, and a prayer. By the grace of God, faithful believers will build it in the Colorado Rockies close to Buena Vista. In the meantime, I am building a virtual retreat center on the website. Below is how I envision the Retreat Center that will be.
The Don Taylor Chapel. My dad Don loved and served the Lord all his life. The chapel serves as our meeting and worship space, and also an intimate setting where retreatants can go to be in silence with Christ. The Patty Taylor Tea Room. My mom Patty would have loved this room. We won’t fill it with small tables and straight little chairs. Instead we’ll fill it with comfortable couches, armchairs, and side tables where you can curl up with your journal and a good book. And, of course, a crackling fire.The Library and Bookstore . The library will house library books on contemplative prayer, journaling, spiritual disciplines, and Christian spiritual growth. Retreatants can also buy Christian fiction and non-fiction by Chris Taylor, C.S. Lewis, Richard Foster, and more. Bedrooms. Each bedroom is a serene one-person room so retreatants can actually retreat to their private working, relaxing, and resting space. The Gardens. Chris spent her childhood summers in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and the columbine has been her favorite flower ever since. The informal gardens will have aspen trees and columbines growing beside garden paths.
